This site is dedicated to boating, fishing and general recreation in the Massachusetts Bay area and Atlantic Ocean.  My vessel, Riptide, a 2002 Trophy 2302WA powered by a 200hp Mercury EFI outboard, is well equip for most outings.  She resides in Green Harbor, MA as does my family and home.  We make full use of our location during the summer visiting sand bars and beaches up and down the coast, places you could never get to without a boat.  Fishing Stellwagen Bank for Bluefin tuna and hauling lobster traps has become somewhat of an obsession.

Atlantic Bluefin Tuna fishing

Stellwagen Bank has been very productive for many fisherman this June 08 for Bluefin Tuna fishing.  I was lucky enough to land a 56” 110+ Bluefin on the troll while on a friend’s boat recently and now I’m hoping to duplicate that success story on my own vessel.  Even when the tuna bite isn’t on the whale show out there never disappoints. There is also is no shortage of bluefish and huge cow striped bass on the bank.  You can’t keep any of the stripers you catch on Stellwagen but it sure is a lot of fun to catch-em.

Father's Day Bass

Father's Day wouldn't be complete without a little fishing. We left the dock at 4:30am in search of Bluefin Tuna. The tuna were not interested in our offerings but we did manage to tempt a few very large striped bass. Before the morning was over we landed several large bluefish and 4 enormous cow striped bass

The ocean is an incredible place. It is hard to explain what it is like to see a school of pilot whales pass by or a breaching Humpback Whale dwarf your boat when you least expect it.  Basking Sharks, Humpback Whales, Finback Whales, Pilot Whales, Right Whales, Harbor Seals, Atlantic Sunfish, and an endless variety of other sea creatures can be found regularly.  Bluefin Tuna schools that pass through every season.

Check out The Captain's Blog - Green Harbor MA, it catalogs much of my vessels activity.  You will find some useful fishing and boating tips, lobster facts and recipes, as well as a few interesting photos here.  The site is always growing.  The goal is to create an extensive fishing resource that will include fishing tackle tips and methods, fishing areas, useful marine knots, and lots more as well as links to many other useful fishing and fisherman resources.
